For many years, we were Plastic-i. We began by using satellite imagery and AI to map plastic pollution in the world's waters. It was a specific, urgent problem, and it gave the company its first name and its first purpose.
The company has now grown beyond plastic. Today, we build intelligence for water: harmful algal blooms, coastal water quality, ecosystem health, and the wider conditions that shape environmental risk. The technology has evolved, our understanding has deepened, and our ambition has expanded.
Poseira is the next chapter of our company.
Posidonia oceanica

Our name is rooted in Posidonia oceanica, seagrass meadows beneath the Mediterranean Sea, some alive for over a thousand years. These meadows stabilise sediment, shelter fish, and sequester carbon at some of the highest rates recorded in any ecosystem on Earth. Their more consequential role is harder to see. When water quality degrades, Posidonia is often the first to register it, changing beneath the surface while the water above shows no sign of it.
We build systems on the same principle: using satellite-AI to detect changes in water before it is obvious to anyone watching from the shore. Before a bloom is visible, before plastic has drifted out of view, before a meadow's stress turns into collapse. Different signals, same discipline. Each is caught early enough that there is still a decision to make.
Poseidon
Our name also draws on Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea. In myth, he watched over the ocean, holding responsibility for a force in constant motion. The ocean is no less complex today. It changes continuously, driven by forces that are interconnected and often invisible until their consequences reach the surface. Reading that change takes judgement as much as observation. This responsibility is central to our work: to hold a continuous, auditable record of water health, giving those who rely on it grounds for sound decisions before consequences arrive.

The Poseira mark begins with a single point of focus. The O sits at the centre, reflecting how our analysis draws attention toward the most important signal within a much larger water system. The two tones at the centre reflect the layered nature of marine life, the outer tone holding steady ecosystem conditions, the inner, brighter teal marking the quiet, deeper activity that warrants attention. The surrounding rings signify the view from above, the vantage point our satellite observation is built from, spanning large water bodies, coastlines and regions at once. The three rings also trace the narrowing progression of our approach to revealing environmental change, from observation to analysis to trusted judgement.
We take on this name knowing what it asks of us: to watch continuously, to judge carefully, and to be right when it matters most. That is the promise Poseira will work to keep.
